Churned up, inside and out
Jul. 7th, 2005 10:12 pmNote to all the lazy-ass teenagers (ones who are chronologically that age, and those adults who seem emotionally trapped at that age) in the world: Grow. The. Hell. Up. It wouldn't kill you to actually made yourselves useful, and if you tried to think of other people's feelings for a change. You're not the only one in the world with a right to your opinion. Other people have that right too, even if their opinion is the diametric opposite of yours. Also, the world's in turmoil right now, since a bunch of terrorists have decided to wreak havoc on some innocent people who were minding their own business, trying to get to work; we don't know where or when these wackies could hit again. You don't have it that bad, and it's nothing to joke about, either: people's loved ones died or got hurt there. Would you laugh if some hateful wack-jobs blew up the bus your spouse/lover/famiky member was on and they died?!

::Irritation laid to rest for the moment, sending out positive energy to and prayers for all my readers in the London area::
The news is affecting the Houseparty, too... Flood is technically a British national (okay, so he's really a sentient computer program, but his human shell *does* carry a Green Card which lists his place of birth as Windsor, England), and he had his "homebase" in London at one point, during the Fifth Iteration of the Matrix, thus it left him a little rattled to hear about the terrorist attacks. And Constantine has a couple friends/contacts based over in London, so he's been trying to call all day, and hasn't been getting through. Thus he's been on and off the phone every hour, which has made using our dial-up connection a little awkward:
Flood: "Then why don't you get a cellphone, so you won't be tying up the bloody line?"
Constantine: "I *had* a cellphone. Once. Never got another one."
Fl: "Well, why not? They're highly convenient --"
C: "Fuckin' demon messed up all the numbers on the speed dial and did some batshit things to the ringtone."
Fl: "Impossible. You must have damaged it somehow." ::Cue minor theological/demonological argument between the scruffy demon hunter and the elegantly snarky bastard...::

Date: 2005-07-08 07:18 pm (UTC)There's one I hadn't seen before -- and boy, does it fit!
At least Ruby is okay, in Florida with her immediate family. Hasn't been able to get in touch with her family back in England yet, though... however, given the size of London, the chances of any of them being among the dead or injured IS statistically pretty small. Thank goodness for small mercies.
