Wow, another fandom besides the three I've been rotating among!

Alone in her room, exhausted by a day's futile work, the grocery clerk lies curled on her side, too tired to cry any more, and feeling ashamed at her foolish tears. Weeping like a jilted teenager again? she asks herself, with a cynical list to those thoughts. He's not worth spilling tears over if he never noticed you as anything more than an employe... She tries to laugh at herself, but it comes out only as another sob, a sound which brings a smirk to the sensuous lips of the androgynous figure perched near her feet, unseen on the foot of the bed, just out of reach. Desire watches the changes in the young woman's body, the drop in her body temperature, the slowing in her heart rate, the catch in her breathing as it grows shallow and slow, as hope started to fade in her soul. Taking out a heart-shaped cigarette lighter from a silken red shirt-pocket, Desire lights up and turns a golden-eyed glance toward the darkened mirror at the head of the room.

"She's all yours, sister," Desire says before quitting the room....

Ooh, Sandman fic! I like the details here--the "heart-shaped cigarette lighter"--these sorts of touches are always lovely. XD

This is why I don't like Desire (well one of many reasons) It screws you up then when it's done hands you over to it's twin. And yeah, the Endless do work with anything don't they.
