matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (MxO_Sieges)

When she isn't jacking into the MxO to *try* running missions, Siegy's been working on a lovely tribute to her dearly missed friend Slitwrist. Note the word "try": there was a collossally wierd glitch which was making it impossible to load missions or finish them; they kept aborting for no reason at all. Still, she managed to make it up to lvl 16 tonight. We suspected Flood had shut off his cellphone for the weekend. I tried tapping him after the wierd glitch raised its head... sure enough, I couldn't get a strong "signal" from him, and when I did, he basically told me to go away and let him enjoy his holiday in peace. He seemed to be on some tropical island, but he refused to disclose his location.

And apparantly, the 6th marked the first time that the Merv allowed select members of the press to photograph and interview his son's "surrogate mother and caretaker", namely Ref, as well as photograph Blaise. She was so embarrassed by it, but I'm told she handled it gracefully. Blaise, on the other hand. The epiphany of le Merovingien fils...

I'm guessing that as far as the world at large is concerned Blaise is Persephone's. I can't help but wonder how they pulled that of (although the Merv's status probably helped) and be suprised that Ref isn't bothered by it. Incidently there seems to be a bit of discussion about Blaise in my corner of the dreaming. I'm not sure of the exact words but it seems to be to the effect of "his mum's real and his dad's binary code so what does that make him?"

Technically, Blaise is a chimaira: there's a little kid plugged into the Matrix, somewhere, who has the code for a human residual self-image that's been interwoven with Exile shell-coding piped into his brain. Only problem is, he can never, ever be unplugged, because that would be terribly hazardous to his mental health: he'd either go mad on being unplugged, or his intelligence would be limited.

Right now, Blaise looks more like his father than like Ref, but that could change as he gets older, but considering that Ref has dark hair and eyes like Persephone (albeit that she's a bit lighter-skinned and she's shorter and built smaller), no one is likely to think twice of who his real mother is... unless Perse decides to leak some information to the press later on... I wouldn't put that past her.

Well she does have a good reason for doing so, altough I'm not entirly sure what difference it'll make. The only things I can think of are that it's something political or that the other factors in the Matrix wouldn't take kindly to a human/AI cross. I'm afraid that even with an explaination, Blaise still makes my brain hurt but as character origins go, he is unique. I wonder if he'll develop any tricks up his sleeve when he gets older. *fwaps the character who's taking bets on how long before Blaise does something weird* Sorry about that.

I wrote an apology to the Merv in my LJ. Not sure if he'll take it or not but it's there.

He accepted it, and he's ordered his minions to stop bothering you. Any further assaults will be clearly the work of the individuals involved acting independantly. You have his word of honor on this.
