Yay, an "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" fic! -- Wait, it's a clunker...

For starters, the very first chapter features a girl bamfing into the "A.I."-verse from the year 2006 and landing smack in Dr. Hobby's office. And I thought this fandom was bamf-proof.

The summary that proceeds the second chapter alone scares me: When Violet is brought to the year 2159 by Professor Hobby, she makes friends with the handsome mecha Joe, is captured by Johnson-Johnson’s Hounds and is sent on a myriad of adventures, but one thing she wonders, will she ever make it home?

And the author'a protest that they don't write Mary Sues is *really* encouraging. /sarcasm Those that protest that they aren't usually are, but they're in denial. If you're gonna be/write a Sue, please embrace it!

Methinks that the single fact of the purple hair already places it quite clearly in the Mary Sue domain...

What *I* think pushes it directly into Sue-Dom is the implication that her myriad of adventures occur ALL in ONE chapter. Now, it's quite possible to have a good, well-rounded story and character doing all those things- but you'd have to space them out. Love in one chapter. Danger in another. Self pity in the third. But come ON, all in one? That is pushed into "worst day ever" territory.

The second chapter didn't actually feature all that: I think she was just trying to give the reader an idea of what to expect in her story....

And I *KNOW* that our Joe would probably find Mary Sues utterly irresistable, just because it's what he does, but I don't wanna see our silicon hottie with those types, just for his (and our) protection.

Lol, now THERE's a story: a canon universe under deluge from plague-carrying Mary Sues, ones that cause instant, irreversible perfection in all they infect...
