matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code ("Welcome to my Life")

Warm weather has descended on us: I had to take the flannel sheets off the bed the other night; I'll miss them till next fall (I love the feel of flannel). Now I'm trying to dig out my electric fans, but my dad seems to have buried them under the Christmas stuff.

And in other news, it looks like the Major is striking back after the store manager told him to lighten up: he left a note attached to the schedule stating 1.) we have to have our day off requests in by *Tuesday* of the previous week, when it used to be Thursday; and 2.) you can no longer call in for your hours. Now, I can bear with the first, but the second... what the yell do you do if you're out of town and you don't get in till late Sunday night for some reason?! And people accuse *me* of not living in the real world...

Well, I'm consoling myself with these four funny "Hellsing" humor-fics:
A Day in the Lives of Walter and Integra

A Day in the Lives (?) of Seras and Alucard

Honestly, I can't think that unless there's reason for him implementing these changes (store theft, customer complaints, or whatever) that they're reasonable. You might mention that to your assistant store manager- that you think that, unless there's something that needs tightening up that you hadn't noticed, all these new policies are going to do is drive down morale (which in turns drives down customer service, which drives down sales...) Don't fix what ain't broke!
And yes, I DO have a load of retail experience I'm speaking from! Albeit working for my uncle's store, so it was a little less 'corporate' than what I'm sure you're working with...tho imagine having a rough day at work and THEN having to go home and eat dinner with your boss...

I don't think this guy really understands the meaning of customer service; there's already been more than a few comments to that effect among folks lower on the totem pole than this guy, and I'm wondering how the yell he got this job in the first place.

What's really funny and a little scary: I just rented F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu" (okay, I'm on a vampire trend lately, plus it's a classic silent film I've been meaning to see), and if you just stuck some vampire fangs in my boss's mouth and squinted at him, you couldn't tell the difference between him and Max Schreck as the title character.

Maybe that explains everything....

That's...unnerving. Have you seen "Shadow of the Vampire"? (I believe that's the name of it). It's "about" the making of Nosferatu, with John Malkovitch as Murnau and Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck. Pretty good from what I can remember of it (it's relatively recent, maybe 5-6 years old).

I believe I have heard of that one: I've heard a little bit about the trouble that went into the making of that movie, most notably the copyright infringement suit filed by Bram Stoker's widow. Didn't she insist on trying to buy up all the prints of the movie or something over-the-top like that?

Well, the movie is a lee-tle different than *that* (although I do believe you're right, which is why the movie is "Nosferatu" and not "Dracula") but I don't want to spoil it for you so I'll just hush up about it and wait for you to see it.
And we have GOT to meet on AIM sometime, luv, if only to say hello! It's been ages, and as much fun as creating epic comment-section threads in your LJ is, I dearly would love to "talk" to you again.
