Addendum to the Teal Deer: Other ships that I like to see on the seas of fandom

I figured since I posted a big ol' post about my views on slash, that I'd add in a bit about other pairings (ie. things not really touched on in the Teal Deer that I can see happening based on evidence in the canon/mythos (I've started to get away from using the word "canon", since it smacks of religious overtones, and it's personally bothersome, especially when you get some fans who are as wacky about some things in fandom as religious fanatics are about their interpretation of the tenets of their faith. I like the word "mythos": hey, it worked for H.P. Lovecraft). Bear in mind, though, I tend to shy away from graphic sex scenes, depending on the mood I'm in. But with me, the key in everything is *GOOD WRITING*.



Supernatural

Castiel and Dean: I could see Castiel "going Grigori" so to speak (ie. turning his back on heaven, but not heading to hell, and instead becoming something like the Grigori or the Watcher angels in the Book of Enoch) and getting curious about certain aspects of human behavior to the point of showing some interest in... certain activities involving Dean, up to and including growing attracted to Dean. Plus, I like their relationship and while I don't see Dean getting interested in Cas, I can see him *maybe* helping Cas out in certain areas, but it would be the kind of thing he wouldn't want Sam (or anyone else, for that matter) finding out about.

The Dresden Files

Thomas/OC -- As an antidote to all those cringe-inducing Harry/Thomas or Thomas/Harry fics, I would like to see a fic (even pre-slash) with Thomas and perhaps a male customer at the coffee shop/salon which the White Court hottie has been running. Post "Turn Coat"!Thomas is going to be interesting to watch, given the changes in his relationship with his inner demon (I know one fan on the Jim Butcher forum who loudly denounced Jim for doing this, but I thought it was an awesome twist): he struck me as basically straight up to that point, but now... we shall see what we shall see...

Yami no Matsuei

Get yourself a slice of cake or a cinnamon bun, this is going to take a while...

Tsuzuki/Hisoka -- I don't doubt for a moment that these two are very deeply drawn to each other, but I doubt it goes beyond a relatively chaste relationship, given that Tsuzuki was born in the early 1900s and that Hisoka is probably very deeply scarred psychologically as a result of what Muraki did to him. Add in Hisoka's whole problem with being touched at all, I think that would make physical relations between them (or Hisoka and anyone) a bit of a challenge, depending on how well Hisoka has his mental shields in place. I guess I see them as "snuggle partners" if nothing more.

Tatsumi/Tsuzuki -- I suspect part of the reason Tatsumi quit being Tsuzuki's partner because some small part of him started being drawn to this goofy but lovable guy. Granted, Tatsumi strikes me as being mostly disinterestedly straight, maybe a 2 on the Kinsey Scale, but I have a feeling there's a teeny-weeny part of him, one that he's too straight-laced (ha! ha!) to admit to its existence, that is attracted to his former work partner.

Muraki/Oriya -- Confession time: when I first watched the anime, I almost mistook Oriya for a tall, robust-looking woman (I know: stupid American). I'm also completely sold on the manga's characterization of Muraki as an energy vampire, thus I don't doubt that Oriya, while he himself is straight, is not above serving as one of Muraki's "donors", we'll call it, albeit that he does so a bit grudgingly at times... though since our White Haired Pretty Boy is adept at getting what he wants, he manages to make this worth Oriya's time... :: Smirks::

Hisoka/Muraki, in that order -- I've mentioned the "He Who Hunts Monsters" theory about Hisoka, and thus I would love to see a fic with Hisoka pretty much doing to Muraki what that fiend did to him... though only if it is well-written. I also suspect that the Not So Good Doctor is Too Kinky to Torture, so it would be rather fun to watch things backfire in Hisoka's face.

The Mentalist

Not exactly slash, but I would like to see some situation (in the series or in fanfic) where Jane and Rigsby pose as a gay couple, probably as one of Jane's frequent ploys for getting access to some place or other (case in point times where Jane has pretended that Lisbon or Van Pelt is his wife or girlfriend, to milady's annoyance). This would be funny to see happen, given the fact that Rigsby is a bit of a big dumb guy with a tendency to typecast certain people; I doubt he's really homophobic, but more the kind of guy who thinks all gay men are well-dressed wussy, girly-looking types. And Jane just likes to good-naturedly mind-game people.

I love "first time" stories for them when the author really gets it right. Makes me melt into a puddle of goo.

Mercy Falcone, right? I automatically like her because of her name ("Mercy" is one of my fave names, ever since I read The Witch of Blackbird Pond). Don't worry too much about rabid shippers. This is a relatively peaceful fandom :)

Ooh yeah, Mercy is a load of fun and a blast to write: I plan to write her working alongside "the boys" as often as I can Hand Wave it. I can see her finding a reason to transfer out of the U.S. office eventually, perhaps due in part to the fellow she refers to as "her blue-eyed Japanese Cary Grant". She's got a lot of personality and I find I have to dial her back a bit sometimes, since she can be a handful in a "shoot first, ask questions later" sort of way and she does tend to shoot her mouth off at times (God help us if she ever crosses paths with Terazuma :: Emits a comical wail of horror:: ).
