LJ housecleaning
Jun. 2nd, 2010 08:43 pmTo the tune of removing some comms and defunct journals from my flist. I was sad to see one person delete their LJ, but I enjoyed being their friend in the time that they spent on here. Also removed a few comms that were just plain getting too wanky. If I see one more wankrant on FFrants about metaphors and description, it will be all I can do to keep from drubbing that poster with the omnibus of Gormenghast. People use metaphors and a lot of description. Live with it. For some people, that's just their style; it may not make them Mervyn Peake (and one could argue that his densely descriptive style goes a long way to helping establish the static, ponderous quality of the castle of Gormenghast), but it's How They Write. Some could likely learn to pare things down just a bit (I'm looking at *YOU*, Stephanie Meyer...), but there are those of us who don't mind reading a lot of description.
I'm also debating removing some of the whiny older entries from my own journal, and I have to admit, a lot of the earlier entries are little more than a page of wank. The problem is... I'd likely end up cutting into the lovely 2,000+ number of entries I have on here and I'm not sure as if I want to do that.
Though given the number of fics I've posted on
comment_fic, I'd likely rebalance the number of removed entries fairly soon. I've... been working on one or two SPN fics in a bid to try and give back, in the hope that someone will fill some of my YnM prompts. I have more fic ideas than I really have time to write them.
