Just got this in my inbox, an anonymous review to "Blood of my Blood", one of my two "Gattaca" AU stories:

"just so you know, he only left for one year you idiot! If your going to write a fanfiction, watch the friggin movie first! Also, getting rid of everything that makes the characters, the characters is just plain wrong. Eugene can be married in a wheelchair, security checkpoints are still neccessary, and irritating. You suck!

Point #1. I don't remember a mention of how long Vincent was supposed to be away on Titan; I don't think it was said.

Point #2. I saw the movie. Twice. One of those times being just before I started drafting this story.

Point #3. Does it change a character if he decides to get himself some healing?

Point #4. It seemed, in the movie, that a lot of the checkpoints had to do with the on-going investigation of the director's murder. They solved that crime. Watch the movie yourself! Second, Lamar has a certain amount of respect/fondness for Vincent, so I don't doubt he'd find a loophole for him.

Point #5. See Point #3.

Point #6. "You suck!" is not an argument. Here's your review binky, now shut up!

Point #7. ::Has a bucket of water ready for the flames::

I think I'm going to remove this story and post the only existing chapters here, since it was a WIP but I haven't been able to come up with a decent ending for it.

It's one thing to get flamed, it's another thing to let it bug you. I would have sent this person the above message, but they were too chicken to include their email address on their review. I'm feeling much better now that I have that out of my system, but I really appreciate your concern: every little bit helps!
