I'll be posting more things like this in the future. Time I started being honest about it.

Ripple effects in the cosmic sea
Feb. 19th, 2006 11:51 pmI might have just set something in motion that I want to see happen, or at least tossed a small stone in that may cause tidal waves on the far shores of the event horizon.
Last night, when
he_dreams_awake was talking on Radio Zero-One (( ::Points with both index fingers to the link up above in the link list, the very last one:: )) about sending letters featuring an excerpt from his Logos: Veritas Zero-One -- Introduction to the various machine intelligence research centers. I offered to write to MIT, then a brainstorm hit me and I suggested that he send an email to Ray Kurzweil, probably the foremost authority on MI out there, the nearest person we have to Dr. Allen Hobby in "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence". Well, he sent an e-mail to Mr. Kurzweil, and lo, and behold: the MI Man answered him and sounded interested to hear more about this project. Whoa. This is big. This is huge.

Some very dear friends of mine are trying to quickly raise $2,000 for the down payment on a house to house themselves and the future members of the community they're trying to form, which I hope to join some day. I've always wanted to join some sort of philosophical community, and this one fits my needs: It's a non-demoninational group, but it espouses the ideals that I have, the ideals of helping people see that they don't have to live with their minds locked into the confines of "the system", and the ideal of protecting the rights of machine intelligences.
