This fic came about as a result of a crazy discussion with tomboy_typist: we were geeking out over a bit of crazy dialogue in the BBC miniseries of "Gormenghast", in which Fuschia asks Dr, Prunesquallor to "lend [her] an ear", and he innocently offers to "lend any part of my anatomy". This lead me to wonder about a few bits in the Bricks, particularly where it mentions that Fuschia, at about twenty five, is "no longer a virgin". And then there's the bit where a ten year old Titus knocks on his sister's door early one morning and she won't let him in, though one gets the feeling that he's accustomed to being let in. Made me wonder if Fyoosh had company that had spent the night, to which tomboy_typist replied, "OMG, it was Prune!" Thus, this daffy, awkward little fic was born...

(WARNING: Mature content including references to female auto-eroticism: got the idea for this from reading about an odd Victorian treatment for hysterics. Somewhere, Mervyn Peake is blushing...)

Not sure if this is enough to qualify as a ficlet, and I mostly re-purposed some dialogue from an episode of "Red vs. Blue" in its creation, but I thought I'd toss this up here:

I wrote this fic in two legs, and while it spun itself out easily, it was hard to get the words onto the paper, due to the tremendous amount of weirdness involved. It's a different kind of Inception fic than I'm accustomed to writing, mostly because I'm writing from Mal's POV, and while I enjoyed the challenge that it offered, being insider her head was extremely uncomfortable, not a place I'm likely to revisit any time soon. I also wrote this on the supposition that Mal is quite literally haunting Cobb's mind, like a ghost...

I've been typing up several of these drabbles, since they're quick and easy to type. That and I had to go offline last night for a bit since we had a thunderstorm and since we're close to water, we routinely avoid using electronic communications since we once had our phone blown out by a lightning strike.

So, I signed up for love_bingo, the sister community to story_lottery, which I never did finish, though I have one or two more stories for it drafted (the prompts weren't that inspiring, I guess). These, however, are, plus I think I have a better grasp of the rules.

And my first fic... is a "Gormenghast" fic, featuring Mister Flay and the Wild Thing, aka the Wild Girl (or "the Leaf", as Peake called her in one draft: wish he'd kept with that name...). Christopher Lee, who played Flay in the BBC miniseries, was damn right about the character being incredibly hard to portray, since his speech patterns are so damn hard. "Can't... speak... full sentences," to quote one upstart anti-villain... ("Hm, I wonder who that could be..." to quote his mentor in a certain RPG...)
